Jacob Maurice Johns

Executive Director

I was asked to participate in *Masterminding EDEN* because of my work leading *A Wisdom Keepers Delegation*, an initiative that brings together Indigenous wisdom keepers from around the world to co-create contemporary climate policy. Our delegation integrates traditional ecological knowledge and spiritual responsibility into global climate negotiations, particularly at the United Nations Conference of the Parties (UNCOP) and other key policy spaces.

My role involves organizing meetings, building networks, and engaging in direct advocacy to ensure Indigenous voices, perspectives, and solutions are represented in climate policy discussions. We work to remove barriers that prevent Indigenous communities from accessing climate finance directly and push for policies that reflect our values of sustainability, reciprocity, and long-term stewardship of the Earth.

Beyond advocacy, my long-term vision includes creating **hybrid site models**—gathering centers that serve as hubs for education, cultural revitalization, and ecological restoration. These spaces will blend traditional Indigenous knowledge with innovative, community-driven solutions for climate resilience. By establishing these centers, we can ensure that local communities have the resources and support they need to sustain themselves while also influencing global policy from a place of grounded experience.

I am deeply committed to systemic change and ensuring that Indigenous-led solutions are not just heard but implemented. My experience in organizing, advocacy, and policy work has prepared me to contribute meaningfully to the conversations at *Masterminding EDEN*. I see this as an opportunity to collaborate with like-minded individuals who are dedicated to reimagining how we approach environmental and social challenges. My work is driven by a sense of responsibility to my ancestors, my community, and future generations, and I believe that by coming together, we can create transformative solutions that honor both people and the planet.
