Nadia Bernon

Dr.

Nadia wears many hats as the *Founder & Director of the Newlands East Humane Society NPO,* Rapid Response Team Chairperson on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) – Newlands East, Board member of the KZN Civil Society Organisations Council (CSO) and Chairperson of the North Region NGO sector in the eThekwini AIDS Council. Her dedication hasn't gone unnoticed, as she was honoured with awards like the Philanthropy category of *Warrior Women South Africa* Top 20 and the *ACYMNE 2023 Woman* in Community Involvement award. She was also awarded Global Peace Ambassador 2024 in mid-November and a Key note Speaker for the Global Partnership unite for her campaign during the 16 Days of Activism represented by over 80+civil society organisations in different countries. Nadia’s impact is not just locally, but globally as the *Keynote Speaker at the International Women’s Day Conference 2024,* uniting over 110 countries in the pursuit of equality and inclusion. This year she is leading the Women in Community Services category for the International Women’s Day Conference in March 2025 with over 150+ participating countries.

Nadia tirelessly campaigns against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF), amplifying the voices of survivors and victims. She provides crucial support and resources to those in need, offering counseling, shelter, and legal assistance.

Nadia's footprint in her community is visible through various initiatives. From organising awareness campaigns to establishing safe spaces for women and children, she leads by example. Her work with the KZN Network on Violence against Women under various Donor Projects since 2005 showcases her long-standing commitment to creating a safer environment for all.

Despite being a mother of four sons, Nadia finds the balance between family life and her passion for community service. She is the founder and director of the Newlands East Humane Society, founded in 2016 and has a team of dedicated women who make a difference in people's lives daily.
