Dr. Brian Von Herzen

Dr. Brian is an Executive Director at The Climate Foundation, where for over two decades he has led transformative technical projects around the world at the nexus of renewable energy storage, climate resilience, and ecosystem regeneration. A pioneer of Marine Permaculture, he has advanced the concept and practice of restoring natural upwelling to regenerate thousands of square kilometers of lost kelp forests- reviving ocean health while unlocking food security, blue-carbon sequestration, and biodiversity benefits essential for a sustainable civilization. His mission is to develop and scale nature-based solutions that reconnect humanity with thriving marine environments and stabilize the climate at speed and scale.

Drawing on an interdisciplinary background spanning planetary science, computer science, electronics, logic design, video processing, and intellectual property development, Dr. Brian brings a systems-level approach to innovation and deployment. Most recently, he co-founded StellarStartup.Studio to accelerate the technologies and know‑how required to move beyond extractive models and build resilient, nature-positive communities capable of transcending collapse. His work blends scientific rigor with entrepreneurial execution, translating bold ideas into practical, scalable interventions that help the oceans- and the people who depend on them- recover and flourish.
